Building a Home for Compassionate Care: Our New Inpatient Care Center
At Hosparus Health, our mission is to support patients and families with compassionate, end-of-life care. As Dr. Bethany Snider, our Chief Medical Officer, recently shared, we are embarking on an ambitious and heart-centered journey to create a freestanding Inpatient Care Center on our own “campus of compassion” in Louisville. This new facility will serve as a transformative environment dedicated to providing comfort, dignity, and holistic care tailored specifically to the unique needs of hospice patients and their families.
Why Our New Center Matters
Over the years, our Inpatient Care Unit at Norton Hospital has served thousands of patients, and we’re proud of the care provided by our incredible staff there. But, as many of you know, a hospital is not always the ideal environment for end-of-life care. Hospice patients and their families deserve a space that feels welcoming, where comfort and serenity are just as important as the care itself.

That’s why we’re building our own Inpatient Care Center – a place designed specifically for hospice needs. It will allow us to create a warm, compassionate environment that reflects Hosparus Health’s mission and values. By having a freestanding center, we can ensure every detail supports families, from vaulted ceilings and skylights to healing gardens and family spaces where you can make precious memories.
Our Vision for This New Space
We’re building this beautiful new center on Ephraim McDowell Drive, right next to our Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center. Together, these facilities will create a true campus of compassion. With 21 private rooms, each with a full bathroom, families can gather, find peace, and take comfort in the warmth and calm of this space. Whether it’s a serene chapel, a spacious family kitchen, or outdoor patios, everything is thoughtfully designed to bring peace and comfort.

We’re here for all stages of this journey, from providing quality end-of-life care to helping families cope with grief. Families can simply walk through a garden to reach our grief support services, offering a seamless connection between hospice and bereavement care that’s so needed.
How You Can Help
This project is about more than a building; it’s about bringing our community together to create a sanctuary of support and compassion. To make this dream a reality, we launched the Places of Compassion fundraising campaign with a goal to raise $13 million of the $18 million needed. By supporting this campaign, you become part of something bigger – helping us make a difference in countless lives.
We even have naming opportunities, so families can honor their loved ones in this special place. To learn more, or if you’re interested in supporting our campaign, please visit our Inpatient Care Center page, or speak with any of our team members.
Together, we’re building a place where patients and families feel cared for in every possible way. Thank you for considering joining us on this journey.
